Supply Chain & Procurement Manager – Healthcare

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Supply Chain & Procurement Manager to lead end-to-end procurement, inventory management, and supply chain operations within a healthcare environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring uninterrupted availability of medical and non-medical supplies, optimizing procurement costs, strengthening vendor partnerships, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and quality standards.

This leadership role requires strong expertise in strategic sourcing, inventory optimization, contract management, and team leadership to support efficient hospital operations and high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Procurement

• Manage end-to-end procurement of medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, surgical consumables, implants, and non-medical supplies.
• Develop and implement sourcing strategies that ensure quality, timely availability, and cost-effective procurement.
• Conduct supplier evaluations, negotiate commercial terms, and establish long-term sourcing partnerships.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with organizational policies and quality standards.

Inventory & Material Management

• Lead inventory planning and material management across central stores, pharmacy units, operating theatres (OTs), and other clinical departments.
• Implement inventory control techniques such as ABC Analysis, FSN (Fast, Slow & Non-Moving) Analysis, and stock optimization methodologies.
• Minimize stock-outs, reduce excess inventory, and control expiry-related losses through effective planning and monitoring.
• Monitor inventory levels and ensure uninterrupted availability of critical healthcare supplies.

Cost Optimization

• Drive procurement cost optimization through strategic sourcing, volume purchasing, supplier consolidation, and commercial negotiations.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies while maintaining patient safety and product quality.
• Monitor market trends and pricing to achieve sustainable cost savings.

Vendor & Contract Management

• Develop and maintain a strong network of regional suppliers and strategic partners.
• Negotiate high-value contracts, Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and commercial terms with vendors.
• Monitor supplier performance through defined KPIs and conduct periodic vendor performance reviews.
• Resolve supplier performance issues to ensure consistent quality and service delivery.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

• Ensure procurement and material management processes comply with NABH standards, applicable pharmaceutical regulations, and internal governance policies.
• Maintain audit readiness through accurate documentation, procurement records, and compliance monitoring.
• Support internal and external audits by ensuring adherence to quality, regulatory, and procurement requirements.

Leadership & Operations

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing supply chain and store operations team.
• Establish performance goals and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with clinical, pharmacy, finance, quality, and operations teams to support organizational objectives and improve service delivery.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Pharmacy, Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Master's degree or professional certifications in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or Healthcare Management will be an added advantage.

Experience

• Proven experience in procurement, supply chain management, inventory control, or materials management within the healthcare or hospital sector.
• Strong expertise in strategic sourcing, inventory optimization, vendor management, and healthcare procurement.
• Experience managing medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, surgical consumables, and hospital supplies.
• Knowledge of NABH standards, healthcare procurement regulations, and hospital supply chain operations.
