About the Role

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) is looking for an experienced Supply Chain Leader – Motor to lead sourcing and procurement operations for Electric Vehicle (EV) traction motor components. The role is responsible for developing sourcing strategies, supplier development, cost optimization, inventory planning, logistics coordination, and supplier quality management while supporting new product development and production readiness.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, and Program Management teams to ensure cost-effective, reliable, and resilient supply chain operations.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Development

• Develop global and domestic sourcing strategies for EV traction motor components.
• Identify, evaluate, qualify, and onboard suppliers based on quality, technology, cost, capacity, ESG, and logistics capabilities.
• Drive supplier APQP and PPAP readiness for new product programs.
• Conduct supplier capability audits and ensure timely closure of improvement actions.
• Develop dual sourcing and localization strategies to minimize supply risks and improve competitiveness.

Procurement & Cost Management

• Lead should-cost analysis, benchmarking, and Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives.
• Negotiate pricing, commercial agreements, and long-term supply contracts.
• Develop and execute cost reduction initiatives across materials, manufacturing processes, and logistics.
• Monitor commodity price risks, procurement savings, Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), and Purchase Price Variance (PPV).

Supplier Quality Management

• Partner with Supplier Quality and Quality Assurance teams to achieve supplier quality objectives.
• Monitor supplier performance using scorecards covering quality, delivery, responsiveness, and cost.
• Drive timely resolution of supplier quality issues and corrective actions.
• Improve incoming quality, product traceability, and inspection standards.

Procurement Operations & Inventory Planning

• Ensure uninterrupted material availability for production through effective demand planning and supplier coordination.
• Manage inventory levels, safety stock, inventory turns, and Days of Inventory on Hand (DOH).
• Lead Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) and Sales & Operations Execution (S&OE) activities.
• Manage end-to-end procurement processes from Purchase Requisition (PR) to Purchase Order (PO), Goods Receipt (GRN), and invoice processing.

Logistics & Supply Continuity

• Coordinate inbound logistics for domestic and international suppliers.
• Manage freight, customs clearance, warehousing, and material movement.
• Identify and mitigate supply chain risks related to supplier capacity, logistics, geopolitical events, and regulatory changes.
• Lead supply continuity planning during material shortages and supplier disruptions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Collaborate with Design Engineering during product development and supplier selection.
• Support Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering teams for tooling readiness and production ramp-up.
• Work closely with Finance on budgeting, working capital, and commercial terms.
• Partner with Program Management to ensure successful product launches and production readiness.

Systems, Compliance & Continuous Improvement

• Maintain procurement and supplier data within ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics 365.
• Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, RoHS, REACH, and ESG requirements.
• Maintain procurement documentation including RFQs, BOMs, contracts, supplier records, and risk registers.
• Drive Lean initiatives, digital dashboards, analytics, and continuous process improvement.

Required Skills & Experience

• 8–12+ years of experience in Supply Chain, Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, or Vendor Management within the Automotive, Electric Vehicle, or Electro-Mechanical Manufacturing industry.
• Strong understanding of EV traction motor components including laminations, NdFeB magnets, copper windings, insulation materials, precision machined parts, castings, shafts, housings, sensors, connectors, and wiring harnesses.
• Experience with APQP, PPAP, IATF 16949, supplier audits, and supplier development.
• Expertise in strategic sourcing, contract negotiations, supplier relationship management, and cost optimization.
• Strong knowledge of inventory planning, S&OP, demand planning, logistics, and supply chain risk management.
• Experience using ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics 365.
• Excellent analytical, commercial negotiation, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and cross-functional leadership capabilities.

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Manufacturing, or a related discipline.
• Postgraduate qualification in Supply Chain, Operations, or Business Management will be an advantage.
