About the Role

We are seeking an accomplished Head – Supply Chain to lead and drive the organization's end-to-end Supply Chain, Procurement, Logistics, Warehousing, and Inventory Management functions. This leadership role is responsible for developing and executing supply chain strategies that enhance operational efficiency, optimize costs, strengthen supplier partnerships, and ensure uninterrupted material availability to support manufacturing operations.

The successful candidate will play a strategic role in balancing demand and supply through effective material planning, sourcing, procurement, inventory optimization, and logistics management while maintaining the highest standards of quality, compliance, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Supply Chain Leadership

• Develop and execute the company's overall Supply Chain, Procurement, and Logistics strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Provide strategic direction to senior management on supply chain initiatives and operational excellence.
• Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing supply chain teams across procurement, planning, logistics, stores, and warehouse functions.
• Collaborate with regional and global leadership teams to drive cross-functional alignment and business growth.

Procurement & Strategic Sourcing

• Lead strategic sourcing initiatives for direct and indirect materials across domestic and global markets.
• Develop sourcing strategies to achieve cost savings while ensuring quality, delivery, and supplier performance.
• Manage procurement of steel, forgings, specialty steels, machined components, special processes, and indirect materials.
• Conduct spend analysis, commodity analysis, supplier capacity assessment, and supply risk evaluations.
• Monitor market trends, pricing, and supplier capabilities to identify sourcing opportunities and mitigate procurement risks.
• Drive supplier negotiations, commercial discussions, and long-term strategic partnerships.

Supplier & Contract Management

• Develop, evaluate, and manage supplier relationships to ensure reliable supply and continuous improvement.
• Lead supplier audits, performance reviews, and vendor development initiatives in collaboration with Quality teams.
• Negotiate and manage supplier agreements, commercial contracts, and service-level agreements.
• Ensure timely contract renewals and compliance with organizational procurement policies.

Demand Planning & Inventory Management

• Balance demand and supply through effective material planning and inventory optimization.
• Maintain inventory levels in line with business requirements and annual budget targets.
• Improve forecasting accuracy and optimize inventory carrying costs while maintaining high service levels.
• Monitor inventory performance, warehouse operations, and material availability across manufacturing facilities.

Logistics & Operations

• Lead domestic and global logistics operations to improve service levels and reduce lead times.
• Optimize transportation, warehousing, and distribution processes to improve operational efficiency.
• Ensure timely delivery of materials and finished goods while minimizing logistics costs.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the end-to-end supply chain network.

Risk Management & Compliance

• Identify supply chain risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, ethical sourcing standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Work closely with EHS, Finance, Legal, HR, IT, and Quality teams to maintain operational compliance.
• Uphold purchasing ethics and corporate code of conduct across all procurement activities.

Data Analytics & Continuous Improvement

• Prepare management reports, dashboards, and supply chain performance reviews.
• Analyze procurement, inventory, logistics, and supplier performance data to support strategic decision-making.
• Lead Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
• Drive Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) initiatives across procurement and supply chain operations.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering.
• Project Management Certification and Supply Chain certifications will be an added advantage.

Experience

• 20–23 years of progressive Supply Chain Management experience within multinational manufacturing organizations.
• Strong experience in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Supply Chain Planning, Logistics, Inventory Management, and Supplier Development.
• Proven expertise in domestic and global sourcing of steel, forgings, specialty steels, machined components, special processes, and indirect materials.
• Experience managing domestic and international logistics operations.
• Hands-on experience with warehouse, stores, and inventory management.
• Strong knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems.
