Head of Procurement & Purchasing (FMCG & Food Commodities)

Compensation: Up to ₹1 Crore CTC per annum

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Head of Procurement & Purchasing to lead end-to-end procurement operations for a large-scale FMCG and food commodities business. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, optimizing procurement costs, ensuring quality compliance, and driving supply chain efficiency across multiple product categories.

This is a leadership role requiring strong commercial acumen, strategic sourcing expertise, and extensive experience in high-volume procurement environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end procurement and purchasing operations for food commodities and FMCG products.
• Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure uninterrupted supply while optimizing costs.
• Manage sourcing of key categories, including grains, edible oils, spices, fresh produce, packaging materials, and other FMCG products.
• Identify, evaluate, and develop strategic supplier partnerships to ensure quality, reliability, and competitive pricing.
• Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, contracts, and long-term supply agreements with vendors.
• Monitor commodity markets, pricing trends, and supply risks to support informed procurement decisions.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
• Collaborate with supply chain, operations, production, finance, and quality teams to support business objectives.
• Drive inventory optimization and improve procurement efficiency across the supply chain.
• Lead procurement teams, establish performance metrics, and implement continuous process improvements.
• Resolve supplier performance issues and ensure timely delivery of materials and products.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Engineering, Food Technology, or a related discipline.
• Professional certifications in Procurement or Supply Chain Management will be an added advantage.

Experience

• Proven experience in a senior procurement leadership role within the FMCG, Food Processing, Food Commodities, Agri-business, or Retail sectors.
• Extensive experience in sourcing food commodities and managing high-value procurement operations.
• Demonstrated expertise in vendor management, strategic sourcing, commercial negotiations, and supply chain management.
• Strong understanding of commodity markets, procurement planning, and cost optimization.
